Renovation of Industrial Hangar, Nyergesújfalu

The CEMBRIT Kft. purchased the 20.000 m2 industrial territory of the ETERIT factory in Nyergesújfalu. The buliding was constructed by using prefabricated reinforced concrete supporting structure elements in the middle of the 20th century. We performed a detailed supporting structure expertise documentation with the revision of the steel- and reinforced concrete supoorting structures and the evaluation of the load capacity of the floor structure. We performed this task to evaluate the adaptibility of the construction for the new technology.
During the examination of the floor structure it turned out that not only the building but also the floor structure is based on pile foundations. This foundation enables the structure to resist the extreme conditions caused by the weak soil structure and the water level changes of the Danube. The floor structure performs as a slab in the sense of a supporting structure.
During the examination of the load bearing of the floor structure we measured the material- and geometric characteristics and the composition of the reinforced concrete with destructive testing. We performed test loading in accordance with the future shelf load in several places of the hangar structure with the help of trucks.
Then we performed the static design of the new floor structure in accordance with the individual demands of the Procurer. The new floor structure is to resist the overflooding water level over the upper floor level performing this by applying water resistant jamb walls and water resistant structures throughout the entire structure.
